So, for 5 years my wife and I (she is from Russia) have been traveling the crazy road of Green Card. (with Co-vid and all the other challenges) We are at the final stage of setting up of the n person appointment BUT....

So, when she went to her appointment in NY (near our house where she lives with me) she got her Biometrics done. They said in NY when that was finished, she would have to do the "live" interview in either Buffalo NY or Syracuse NY. BUT....

Got an email where they are scheduling a personal interview in Poland on March 2, 2022, and part of the prep is a medical exam where they send results in a sealed envelope, which says takes 2-3 weeks. Even if she could get to Poland to do that there is NO WAY to have the results for the interview which are required.

SO...

Many questions:

1. The address in the email for her is our NY address United States of America So why Poland????

2. Medical exam takes 2-3 weeks for results (how can this be done with the timeline)

3. Have the local congressman helping and waiting to hear from them also.

Would love to hear what others think or advise??

Confused in NY Dan

It sounds like the I-130 was originally marked for consular processing......that would have triggered the interview outside the US.  You need to notify USCIS and the consulate that this is an adjustment of status case....not a spousal visa.  Adjustment of status interviews are never done outside the US and spousal visa interviews are never done inside the US.

I am moving this thread to the Adjustment of Status forum although you posted in the spousal visa area..

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Dan

Unfortunately that is not always the case (DHS and DoS talking to each other).  If you search the VJ site for changing from consular processing to AOS, it should be automatic (transferring the I130 back to USCIS), so you may want to try and get in touch with USCIS and check on your case.  I know it is difficult to actually get to a tier 2 person, but I think there are things you can say to the phone system to get connected to a real person and have a discussion.

Good Luck!
