When I was traveling back to the US recently, the CBP agent asked me to show him all my EAD cards and I had my older one (which was expired) and the current active EAD card. He kept my expired EAD card and said this is not property of CBP. Is that typical/has something like this happened to someone else?

Then why did he keep it?

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.
