I would like to know when I should expect to receive a letter with a priority date after the approved I-130.

I (a US citizen) applied for a sibling (outside the US) back in 2017. I received a letter at that time which acknowledged the receipt of the form. But I have not received any subsequent letters with a priority date. A few months ago I called one of the numbers and was able to speak with a representative because I was afraid that the case got lost or maybe there was a request from them that I missed and they cancelled the petition. The lady assured me that she can see the filed I-130, but couldnt tell me the priority date.

Can someone share their experience with filing for a sibling? What was the communication process and when did you get your priority date and a case number?

Thank you!

PD date is on the original receipt from USCIS

The actual case # is assigned from NVC according to embassy

an example is 3 letters to indicate the embassy ,  followed by year recd by NVC then the Julian calendar date and last # is for what number NVC recd for that embassy on that day

Now you are waiting until sometime in the 2030's.

Make sure you notify any change of address.

That’s the thing - there was no PD on that receipt!

We just recently submitted another petition, this time F3 (a USC parent applying for a married son over 21), and the receipt also didn’t have a PD listed!

This is very different from the F2B application we had a few years back when the PD was noted in a letter almost right away.

Don't worry, it should have the "Received Date". That will be your Priority Date +- few days sometimes. It doesn't matter if the PD box is blank on your receipt notice. When checking processing times on uscis, use the Received Date as priority date for reference.

You will likely get the next notice with PD mentioned in around 6-7 years.

I am a US citizen, filed for my sister I-130 back in 2010. The Approval arrived 4 years later, in 2014. But the PD date is the date USCIS received my petition (2010). Hope it does make sense?

It makes sense because the day that USCIS received your I-130 back in 2010 is the Priority Date.  USCIS approving the I-130 in 2014 has nothing to do with the Priority Date.

Think of the PD as the date that your sister got in line for the F4 category.  That would be near the date that you filed the I-130 --- back in 2010.
