IR1/CR1 Timeline: Add Active Review

I've been seeing a lot of questions about Active Review when it comes to IR1/CR1 visas.

We might be able to see if there is a pattern to Active Review based on USCIS center or if it's all random.

Agreed, mine was recently updated to active review (March 2) but no way to update on here. Would be cool to be able to see others and look for patterns. I was also secretly transferred from Nebraska to Vermont, which I found out only through "Ask Emma", so it makes me wonder if that event triggered the Active Review status.

Side question: if we are not notified of the transfer of our case, would it be right to continue basing our expected approval on our original NOA1 receipt? Going from a center with a 4-7 month timeline to a place with 11-16 month makes a big difference in life plans. We recently had to decide on an apartment lease and this was a serious condition of our decision. Without having asked Emma, we would never have known...

Are you us?

Started in Nebraska and moved to Vermont. Had to sign another lease in Korea.

You have to go by Vermont times now.  Most recent Vermont cases go into AR at the 5 month mark and then are approved between 250-260 days.

But cases with a K3 on file seem to be approved a month or so after AR (I think... not everyone mentions if they've filed a K3).

BTW NVC is taking around 3 months (with no RFEs) and after DQ it takes 2 months to interview in Seoul.

Thanks for the info! Assuming the 250 days start at the NOA1 receipt (or do they start after AR?) that puts us at about Christmas 2022 for our interview - about a 13-14 month process start to finish.

Vermont cases are all over the place. Latest NOA2 had a PD of January 2022!

250-260 days from NOA1.

And there have been some approvals from NOA1s filed in September.

You might get moved again from Vermont to another SC. So, I'd hope for a Christmas 2022 interview but don't bet on it.

You can keep up with the latest Vermont approvals at these two links or click on Immigration Timelines at the top of the page and sort by Vermont/ NOA2.
