US immigration courts struggle amid understaffing and backlog of cases (edited title)

Hello everyone. While this is not an excitement News I just felt like this will explain reason for the long wait. I read from some news website that the Uscis have over 1.6 million backlog cases  they are fighting to tackle. This is because of the former president's policy and more so because they are currently under staffed. Old news.

US immigration has always been in a bad shape.

The past administration worked very had to make a bad problem worse.

Adding interviews, investigations, cutting staffing, closing offices, proclamations/bans and more administrative steps that will take more laws, action by congress and lawsuits to unwind.

 

And then the pandemic struck.

Like it or not, I believe it will take decades to get back to where we were before the Trump got into office

Apparently new N-400 applications are getting processed at more or less normal speeds, it's the people who applied in 2020 (especially the spring 2020 filers) who are stuck, with many waiting almost 2 years now. It doesn't make any sense but this is what we're seeing here on VJ.

and there are well over 10 million illegals in the US so yeah,  i would say they will be backlogged forever.  there is no let up in illegal immigration

I mean, for sure COVID didn't help, but to use that excuse and sit on simple cases for two years is total BS. Somebody posted an article about cases being stuck in an office that -supposedly- nobody has access to. Mind blogging that just because a simple door can't be unlocked, families are kept separate. Yet as @iwannaplay54has rightfully said, credit cards are charged at light speed. They don't seem to be understaffed in the "charging" department!

You got me all fired up now lol. You know what's even more mind- blogging?! The fact that we have to send paper applications! And to think that in the movie "Back to the Future" Marty McFly thought that we'd be driving flying cars in early 2000s... Yeah not with USCIS:

Completely agree. Immigration court is not my area of expertise at all, but with USCIS we know it's funded by filing fees, so what gives? If people are filing, the funding is there. It didn't mysteriously "dry up" or lag due to Covid, if anything, more people applied during Covid than ever before. The vax has been out for ages now, Covid numbers are going down (Covid barely makes headlines anymore, seems like it's not newsworthy these days.)

 

If they're short on staff, they just need to hire more people because the funding is there thanks to the filing fees. Apparently it takes USCIS months to even hire a new person. I saw a post on reddit where someone applied to a job at USCIS and they didn't even get a response back for an interview until 5 months later. Why it goes at such a snail's pace is beyond me.

If application fee sits ,  it may be because it is personal check and they make sure it clears first

and just for information ,  even money orders and bank certified checks have been know to be fake

someone stole a stack of  certified checks from a Florida bank in 2008

covid is not an excuse anymore

the crazy part is i've seen many 2020 case are stucked ( including mine) and early 2021, but they processed late 2021 like high speeds

Want  a real laugh? which isn't so funny

woman in Pa works for immigration and still waits over 7  years for her husband to be approved in Morocco

and no red flags/ i mean they are about the same age,  never married before 

everything we say is a red flag does not apply in her case

I met her and husband back in 2017 when i was last there /she was there for his 1st  interview

petition is not even denied or sent back to usa

USCIS went cold for months.  By the time it re-started operations some files were with NARA/FRC. NARA/FRC is deliberately  operating at 25 percent capacity. Thus new cases from 2021 and 2022 are being processed ahead of cases from 2020.
