Hi friends, I am stuck at a couple of questions in the N400 online application form.

  1. I moved states and lived in a hotel for 5 days looking for an apartment in the new state. Should I list the hotel name for those 5 days as my "physical address"?
  2. One of my jobs ended on Friday and new one started on Monday. Should I select "unemployed" to fill in the 2 days in between? The online application seems to show a warning that the 2 days are missing.

Thank you!

What address did you give the airline and CBP when you traveled to  / entered the USA? That’s the one you list.

So, I moved from one US state to another US state. It was a domestic travel. Does that help clarify?

Yes.

Ok, so just so I understand. Even though I already had the new job offer before Friday AND the company does not work weekends, I should still mention unemployed for the weekend. Got it!

Thank you for reply!!!

It doesn't matter that much if you put as unemployed or if you extend your previous employment until Sunday in the form. In fact you were not unemployed, it was just the weekend when moving between employments... You'd not be able to go ask for unemployment benefits, as an example. In my case I put the old as if it lasted until Sunday as an example.

For the hotel, it also doesn't matters that much. They won't go to the hotel to check if you really were there those five days, you were not "living" there. They want to know about your residence, a 5 days stay while moving is not a residence. If you don't want to show a gap, extend one of the other addresses. Even if you leave a gap, they won't go interrogating you saying "but where did you RESIDE in those 5 days!!".
