Travel to Philippines (passport expires Sept)

My wife's month is 95 and in poor health. My wife, who has a Philippines passport that expires this september, wants to visit her. My wife has a permanent green card (10 yr variety). Two questions: first, if she stays there for 2 months, can she return to the US with no problem, given that she might only have 4 months on her passport. Second, will the Philippine government allow her to stay in country with less than 6 months on her passport? Thanks!

my suggestion, renew her passport before she go. she can go to phillipines embassy to do that. most airlines require minimum 6 months validity on the passport.  and she is still citizen of that country, of course the government allow her to stay in that country ( indefinitely ).

She can to the Philippines with a passport that is expiring soon.  While she is there she can go to the DFA and renew her passport before she returns.  Once she knows she will be in the Philippines, check the DFA site for a location nearest her home and book an appointment.  It will be much quicker than renewing at the Consulate in DC.

Even with just 1 day validity remaining on the passport, the Philippines will accept it for entry.  Once allowed entry, there is no limit to how long a PH citizen can stay in the Philippines regardless of the validity of their PH passport, just like there is no limit to how long a US citizen can stay in the US even if they have no US passport.  Having a US 10-yr GC does not change a PH citizen's right to stay in their own country.

Airline requirements are a separate matter.  Check with the airline beforehand to make sure they will let your wife board even if her passport has less than 6 months validity.

My wife became a dual citizen at the end of December, and she got a new PH passport through the Houston Consulate in February.  That took about 7 weeks.

I'm guessing it would be faster to do it here at your consulate rather than in the Philippines.

Finally done.
