Member of the European Parliament Gives Amazing Speech Against Trudeau and For Freedom

By Nick Arama | Feb 20, 2022 6:30 PM ET

[...] someone who comes from a country that knows something about Communist dictatorships, Romanian Member of the European Parliament Cristian Terhes, had a few things to say about Trudeau and his crackdown on the Freedom Convoy.  [...]

Yes.  The article you cited has it right.

As a natural born Canada who spent his first 18 years in Canada and a naturalized American came here and never moved back, this piece  I read today sheds even more light, and it truly resonated with me:

https://townhall.com/columnists/derekhunter/2022/02/20/canada-shows-why-its-called-american-exceptionalism-n2603533

Canada is not like the United States. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms grants Canadians various rights that, if you don’t think about it, are similar in a lot of ways to the rights we enjoy here. But there’s a major difference.

Our [USA] Constitution grants exactly zero rights to anyone, it acknowledges the rights with which we were born and denies the federal government the ability to infringe upon them. The Canadian Charter gives citizens certain rights, explicitly. If a government can grant rights, there is no justification for them not being able to take them away, temporarily or permanently.

When Trudeau invoked emergency powers, US conservatives recoiled in horror. Canadians did not.

This is the stark difference.  As the constitution of Canada is written, the Prime Minister can assume dictatorial powers.

I was in Canada last fall to bury a an aunt who had passed just before the pandemic started.  My relatives asked me if I’d consider moving back to Canada, and I laughed it off saying I’m allergic to snow.

While I truly hate the white crystals of death, what I hate much more is the lack of true liberty in my mother land.  I can be canceled in America for wrong think.   But I can’t go to jail for it.

Today we are getting reports that shops that sold coffee to the freedom truckers are being charged by police.  Say what you want about January 6, BLM, or ANTIFA but I’ve never heard anyone on the left, right, or center suggest we should shutdown a Starbucks that sold a latte to protester on the way to a riot.

I  believe the political union of the USA and Canada is inevitable, and just like in corporate mergers, of A and C, when A has 10x the size of C, C’s culture won’t survive.  And that is the only hope for liberty in Canada.

BLM Protestors who broke the law were either arrested, or shot by vigilantes for the most part. These are not peaceful protests, they are weaponized willful ignorance.

I really don't understand this madness with reticence towards vaccines and public health safety. It's based in ignorance and misinterpretation of a social contract. Yes, it is mostly survivable, but so is cancer. However, unlike cancer, it's not transmitted by simply breathing on someone. It's not just about your individual freedom and right to your own body, this impacts many many others. But let's be honest, the arguments against vaccines and pandemic protocols is disingenuous at best. The people who claim my body my my choice won't support giving that same right to women's reproductive rights. Hell, these are the same people who are against teaching any part of history that could possibly make someones feelings to get hurt.

If these vaccines actually prevented someone from contacting and spreading Covid, you might have a point for the whole public safety argument, but we know that is not true.  As to the cancer comparison, that is a big stretch as if you compare it to say pancreatic cancer, I think I would rather contract Covid without the vaccine.  At best, the injection(s) helps to reduce the severity for the individual that took the jab (one of the main reasons we decided to get the jab ourselves), but that is also questionable depending on the variant(s) currently circulating.

As to the peaceful protests conducted by these truckers and their supporters, they do have consequences, and from what I saw, these folks peacefully surrendered when the police came in and started arresting them, and most of them are still in custody (unlike most of the BLM/Antifa protesters).  I don't think these folks are all anti-vax, but rather anti-government mandate, and of course Trudeau showed his true Leftist totalitarian colors in his response.  This all could have ended weeks ago even before they blockaded the Ambassador Bridge, but Trudeau did not want to relinquish any power he believes he had.  Full disclosure, I was not a big fan of some of the tactics of this group, I thought it would have been much more effective if these truckers simply stopped driving.  I know, the argument is anyone can do that job, but for some reason there is a huge shortage of drivers in Canada and the US.

Thank you for this.  As Canadians we usually forget about the senate as it is usually useless.

Your comment was news to me and it was under reported to say the least.  Wikipedia to its credit notes the senators pushed back.

I totally forgot about them too. Since I've been watching everything live, that was when it hit me that this wasn't over yet. Still, it was crazy watching the senate ask questions and not get proper replies.

More criticism of Trudeau coming from a couple more MEPs, and I believe this was done while he was present.

European MPs blast Trudeau for COVID 'rights violation'

“To defend our rights and the rights of our children, which we have acquired over the centuries, many of us, including myself, are willing to risk, our freedom and our own lives.”

Kolakusic said Canada was once a symbol of the modern world but in recent months has become a “symbol of civil rights violation” under Trudeau’s “quasi-liberal boot.”

“We watched how you trample women with horses, how you block bank accounts of single parents so they can’t even pay their children’s education and medicine, that they can’t pay utilities, mortgages for their homes,” said Kolakusic. “To you, these may be liberal methods, for many citizens of the world, it is a dictatorship of the worst kind.”

Too bad there wasn’t footage of Trudeau reaction to these criticisms (all rightfully deserved IMO). The Croatian and German MEP have been vocal about shots and human rights from the get go.
