So if anyone has seen my previous posts, I've been a bit pleasantly confused about the AOS process and timeline from a K-1 visa. My husband and I filed his AOS back in November, he got a biometrics appointment in January, and now we now got a notice for our primary AOS interview next month! That's approximately 4 months from filing to the interview date and we didn't expedite!! I'm thinking USCIS is starting to speed up their process so just wanted to give hope for anyone waiting!

Some local field offices are faster while others are slow.

That's how it has always been.

You can look up your LFOs processing times on the website.

You can also look up the other urban centers and see that some take over two years.

Makes sense. Our case was sent to a state other than the one we live in, so that could be why.

Without a timeline in your profile it isn’t possible to explain.

I just fixed my timeline! We're in Indiana but got sent to Ohio

Fixed!

Then your LFO isn't Indiana.

Please indicate your LFO in your timeline.

It goes by zipcode.

As you can see from https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aoslist.php?vtype=1&op8=Indianapolis+IN&interview=&xfr=&op1=6&op2=&op3=&op4=1&op5=5%2C6%2C8%2C9%2C10%2C11&cfl= the gap between bio and interview for AOS from K-1 is relatively short.  If anything yours is taking a bit longer.

It is Indiana. We live in Indianapolis. In a previous post, I mentioned that we called USCIS to ask why we got sent to Ohio and were told by the representatives that it's due to backlog at the Indianapolis office, so just to speed the process.

Thanks for this link! Didnt know how to find this on the site. Interview is 2 months from biometrics so not long actually!

I'm not too surprised that it was scheduled in a few months. I've seen similar timelines. It seems there are some main factors that impact the timing of interview scheduling, such as:

-Workload at the office handling the case

-The personality and/or work ethic of person who gets your case on his desk

-The background of the case (type of visa being adjusted from, etc)

In short, the mileage varies greatly, so to speak!

this is why we harp on VJ members filling their timelines. Data and answers come only when there is data.

It is compared to the other cases from that field office.

My friend at the Cleveland office has his AOS interview for March 3rd, about 3 months after filing AOS. Ohio is very far ahead. Cincinnati office is also only like 4 months to AOS interview.

Thanks for this! Somehow, despite all my time spent around here, this page had always passed me by.
