i-485--married or maiden name?

HELLO

After 7 months waiting for the visa my fiancee (now wife) is finally here in the USA!

We are filling out the I-485 now...

SHould my wife enter her maiden name or married name on the application?

I-129F Sent : 2006-09-25

Request for "Original signature": resent signature early October

I-129F NOA1 : November 8, 2006

NOA2: February 1st 2007!!!!

NVC: February 10th 2007

PACKET 3 arrived: February 28, 2007

Timeline

If your wife plans to go by her maiden name, then she writes her maiden name.

If she plans to hyphenate her last name, then that's what she writes down.

If she wants to use her married name, then she enters that.

Just be consistent with everything she applies for from this point on -- either all in her maiden name, or married name.
