Hello,

Next month I am scheduled for my citizenship interview. I am a GC holder through VAWA for 5 years. I filed without a lawyer. Can you share your interview experience? Are they going to ask about the details like the abuse?

Thank you and I appreciate your responses.

Likely not

Also, as I have been reading other members post I noticed when filling the form for eligibility they used the OTHER box and put VAWA. Am I gonna be in trouble? I checked the Box A instead, LPR for 5 years.

That relates to filing after 3 years as a LPR, when LPR status was gained through VAWA.

You filed on the basis of a 5 year rule so it has nothing to do with your VAWA. They will not be asking you about abuse, do not worry! They will be asking the regular questions, i.e. periods of being outside of the US (travels within last 5 years), where you work, where you live, marital status, national security questions on prostitution/terrorism. It will be easier than you think. Good luck!

If you qualify under multiple options it's your call which one to use. The others who did "Other - VAWA" were naturalizing under the 3 year VAWA provision and simply couldn't use the 5 year general option.

At naturalization stage nobody will ask about your VAWA.

Contradictions without citations only make you look dumb.

Ohhhhhhh that’s what it is. I thought it doesn’t matter if you qualify for other options, that since I got my gc through VAWA I still have to use the OTHER. Thank you so much for enlightening me.
