Since it says 2 photographs it must be more than one passport photo

For the online NVC/CEAC upload, it's one digital photo as a JPEG/jpg file since submitting exactly the same photo twice would be redundant. JPEG format does not have a notion of inches or centimeters, just pixels. The aspect ratio must be square and the resolution must be at least 600 pixels in each direction. This is so that when the file is printed onto your visa as a 2x2" months later, it does not look aliased. You can use the https://www.idphoto4you.com/ website to crop the photo. Choose Print Size.. Single Photo and download the JPEG, inspect that it is square & >=600x600, and upload it.

The two printed photos will be for the in-person interview stage, which is a bit later. When you get to that stage, you can use the https://www.idphoto4you.com/ to embed your JPEG square photos as a sheet of four 2x2" photos on a 4x6" standard photo sheet, which you can print at your local Boots pharmacy using one of their photo kiosks (assuming you're in the UK). Then cut with scissors and put them in an envelope for your interview. I have used this website for visas of many countries including the US without problems.

Remember: No shadows on face or wall. Neutral expression. Use a uniform white or off-white background (no light switches or wall sockets lurking behind you). Look straight and center into camera. Do not wear shirt with any kind of slogan/picture - patterns are ok - solid colored clothing is preferable. See https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/photos.html for examples of bad and good photos.

I never claimed that the process for digital upload would be the same! However, the file containing the visa photo should be identical. The requirements for digital photos are the same for K-1, CR-1, IR-1, US passports, and US green cards:

  • JPEG format
  • square aspect ratio
  • at least 600 pixels by 600 pixels and no greater than 1200 pixels by 1200 pixels
  • no more than 240 kilobytes in size

Are you suggesting otherwise?

Don't disagree  that  the upload process is the same .. but what is required to be uploaded is different  Passport compliant  photos of the applicant / beneficiary arent requested at NVC stage for the IR case

Hi lil bear. I read the thread. So in "photograph" is just one photo 600x600? I have 10 photos of us in PDF I can upload if that's  the case. NVC should have been more specific with that document.

Others who have done the same process as you ( i did IR5 parent of USC) have indicated that the photos at the NVC stage are photos that document your relationship with your wife. So not limited to one.. but follow the guidelines regarding total file size and choose wisely. The single pdf with 10 photos seems a good choice

I think some confusion has been added when you were looking ahead at the interview requirements .. and trying to correlate the two different things. But yes..  some things do not seem straight forward or clear for sure.

Nice if you did like that and got approved, then Ill do it like that too. I got really confused with the interview because there is no info about photographs. What I can fo just in case, Ill upload a digital passport photo of my spouse on additional information. It think it won't  harm my application

Sounds like a good move ! And when you get to the interview stage, follow the interview letter instructions

This is incorrect.  Relationship photos are submitted as part of the I-130 online application for USCIS.

For NVC, they pre-check all the documents needed for the embassy interview.  Therefore, under the IV section, ppl are required to upload copies of all documents they will need at the interview: passport photos, police clearance certificate, DD-260, BC's, marriage certs ( if relevant), etc.

Dont disagree at all with your statements but my reply to OP was because OP was confused by trying to interpret wording  on requirements for NVC process by reading  information about what was needed for the consulate interview .. which they are not yet up to is not .. and it understandably created confusion   OP now has clarity on NVC requirements and has read the correct information.

Hey I saw a video on yt and the guy says that on the Photograph upload, it should be just 1 jpeg passport 2x2 foto of applicant. He said, " do not submit photos of the of you together because the NVC will reject it".  The title is ,   "What type of photo to upload to NVC CEAC by USA Monde. Check it out. This should be on NVC instructions, but it is not.
