Trump Reportedly 'Terrified' of Accusations He 'Flushed' Official Documents

So I am taking the order to start a separate thread about this, since no one seems to be talking here about the destruction/holding back of presidential records -- especially ones marked confidential -- which is kind of big if true. Just kicking off discussion with this article. Let's put aside criticisms of Trump the man and talk about why this should or should not be investigated with as much attention as Hillary's emails. Because big, if true.

Haberman, who has covered Trump since 2011, reportedly states in her book that multiple Trump administration staffers discovered pieces of paper lodged in toilets, and they believed that the then-president had tried to flush them.

"I learned that staff in the White House residence would periodically find the toilet clogged...what the engineer would find would be wads of clumped up, wet, printed paper," Haberman said Thursday in an interview on CNN. NARA asked the Justice Department to initiate this investigation after officials "suspected Trump had possibly violated laws concerning the handling of government documents," according to a report from The Washington Post.

This reportedly includes at least 15 boxes of documents that were brought to Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida after he left office, instead of being turned over to officials at NARA.

Other revelations include reports that, of the documents that the Trump administration did turn over, many of them had been torn up and damaged in an attempt to hide their contents.

On a personal note, I have mostly been away because of a lot going on in my family life recently. My MIL caught COVID and was admitted to hospital with hypoxemia in December -- she spent more than a week on the respiratory unit and just made it home before Christmas. She is doing a lot better now but stairs still exhaust her. She had no preexisting conditions, was in excellent health, very active, fully vaxxed, and only 56 when she caught it. Sometimes you're just unlucky is what the doctors said. Her sister -- five years younger and quite a bit pudgier -- caught it around the same time and was completely asymptomatic. Then my Uncle Dan died from a heart attack right before New Year's, and suddenly most of my family and I were trying to pick up the pieces in Mississippi, where he'd moved to be near his wife's family. And even more recently, a member of my husband's family attempted suicide and very luckily was discovered before she died. It's been a lot, and I am eternally grateful that the experiences of the past three months have brought my husband and I closer than ever during a very, very stressful time. Understandably bickering on VJ kind of took a back seat. Just a message to say there is so, so much more out there in the world than snipping at each other's tails and slamming each other. ❤️

It is good that  NARA is giving attention to its mission of handling federal documents.  The millions of future LPRs and USA citizens waiting for USCIS which is in turn waiting for NARA could not be more pleased.

Trump treated his memos the same way we treated his memos.  No great loss.  No interest in what he flushed.  Time for the country to move on.  He won’t be back and good riddance.

Has anyone considered the possibility that the WH was out of toilet paper?  Regardless, rather minor considering what was being done by the Dems including some that are currently in Old Joe’s WH.  I know, a ‘whataboutisms’, but I suppose that was just fine.

When I try to flush a little too much regular toilet paper I run into trouble.

 

Can't imagine trying to flush papers and memos down my toilet.  Would never work.

So let me get this straight. Its perfectly reasonable to believe anonymous sources who make the wild claim that Trump flushed documents down the toilet when he could have simply burned them in one of the many White House fireplaces or simply shredded them. However it's just a conspiracy theory that Hillary spied on Trump when a career federal prosecutor spends hundreds of thousands of dollars and well over a year uncovering evidence of such activity. I'm sure he has to justify all that time and money spent. Especially when his bosses are democrats.

More likely NARA trying to deflect the focus from its own ineptitude.  MSM goes along because the woes of people trying to lawfully immigrate and naturalize don’t attract readers, watchers, and listeners.
