Visiting the US

Hi there,

Ive filed for a K3, and right now, my timeline is saying my I-130 will be approved 2 months before the I-129f(which keeps pushing further and further away).

So Ive been reading up on the IR1/CR1.. and have a few questions that may help me and my husband make a decision.

If my I-130 is approved first, can it be sent to the NVC even if my I-129f is filed ? And can I still see where the I-129f takes us, or is it best to have it cancelled/stopped/put away

My honeymoon is in October. We're taking a small road trip across the West Coast and then going to Hawaii. I read that with the IR1/CR1 there's a good chance that I can't go to the US... Is that true ? Or is it like the K3 ? If I have proof of ties to my country(Canada) they will most likely let me through ? Proof of ties - lease, car insurance, bills, letter from employer, etc.

NVC schedules the interview correct ? And not the consulate like for the K3 ?

Thanks for your time and helping us make an informed decision.

You can just let both horses run. No need to cancel any petition.

We have at least one thread here every day from a Canadian interested in visiting the US during the visa process, so you'll have no trouble finding all the answers you need on that.

If you get the I130 approved while the I129F is pending, USCIS will forward it to NVC. You won't have to do anything. You don't have to cancel the I129F. You can let the race run as long as possible.

Visiting is the same with either K3 or CR-1. You might get in or not, but bring proof of ties to the home country.
