what place DOESN'T have wankers and dumbasses? lol

not everyone in southern california gives a rats ### about celebrities or what style is in right now or not. i'd say the majority DOESN'T!

What about attitude?? Do people of one city or town have the same yeah whatever attitude as others????

Really? I've not only travelled in LA but have lived there as well and I find it preferable in many respects to New Jersey. I certainly didn't hate it - nor do I associate the people who live there with general standards of behaviour. My wife's entire family live in an LA suburb - and perhaps you'll be surprised to learn that they are not materialistic "wankers and dumbasses".

Next I am going to hear that LA is friendlier than the south..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Ditto, Kitty.

America = A continent.

United States = A country.

Most people I have spoken to overseas, in Europe, AUS and Asia, refer to America as the USA.

In my language it'd be "estados unidenses", meaning, people born in Estados Unidos.

Estados Unidos = United States.

What makes America, America is the following:

Saying something can "Only happen in America" despite the fact that it can of course happen anywhere else in the world. This is generally caused by an ignorance that concepts such as hard work, freedom, democracy, law etc. only exist within the USA and everywhere else in the world is an unstable banana republic. I.e. a particular kind of self-aggrandisation mixed with patriotism and isolationism that, to coin a phrase, can "only happen in America!".

Yes if you translate it litteraly from my language.

Granted... when we use the term 'America' it is basically slang. Conventional meanings of words are often the context in which they use the word or interpret it to mean.

Perhaps one of the smelliest... Don't want to be downwind of any of those steaming manholes....

For anyone who wants to get a idea of my daily commute:

It's like putting on your best suit, and sitting in a sauna for 2 hours, while the guy next to you farts uncontrollably.
