She would have needed an excellent job.  Did your friend's wife get the visa before or after they married.  Makes a big difference.

Now that I think of it, at that time - maybe still today, it would have been very difficult for a single Chinese woman to have gotten a US tourist visa.

Unless she had a very good job and property.  It helps to be leaving a child behind also.  It DOES happen.  It's much more likely for a single woman or woman married to a Chinese man, to get a visa than a woman married to a US Citizen.  Google "immigrant intent".

OK.  I'm trying to change my address in the I-130 I filed online.  It has me going in circles. It tells me to go to USCIS.gov/addresschange   There it tells me to go to the login page.  When I go there it leads to USCIS.gov/addresschange etc.  How do I get out of this loop?  I assume I did something wrong. Eventually I want to correct my address to my relative's address in the US, is that right?

I don't think there is a way for a petitioner to correct change their address online.  If you want a different mailing address, call them, then call again in a month or so and see if it really got changed.  Otherwise, you'll get an email from NVC when your case gets there.  Use the relative's address from that point forward.

You're in this pickle because you didn't do your homework before you filed the petition.  Use this time to do your homework to prepare for the NVC stage.

Hopefully by now, you understand you haven't applied for anything yet, and there will be no green card until AFTER you are both in the USA.  She cannot come to the USA ahead of you. It's you first or both together.
