I want the answer to this too! I really want to add docs but am so worried to. We responded to our RFE on the same day. Now I have 2021 taxes available. They weren’t asked for because it was too early for 2021 taxes back in Feb. but I have them now.

EmTi what’s your submitted date at the moment?  I’m hoping Hoba will respond to my question above, as it looks like they had more than one RFE cycle..

You can take them to the interview if the Interviewing officer asked for them that way atleast you will have them.  And when was your RFE came. Was it for maim documents or secondary documents. If RFE came recently and it's for main documents then you can add those 2021 tax returns as the rfe has reset the clock anyway but i would still suggest you can just take them with you at the interview as they were not asked at nvc stage

Do you know if this works for the 2nd RFE too? I mean, if we responded immediately to RFE but then added more docs to Additional docs later?

Additional documents as long as they are not main documents doesn't has any effect on the reset clock. Hopefully NVC might process second RFE quicker as they also have to complete the cases quickly inorder to lessen the burden of backlogs.

Thank you, Raja! I think what we also

want to know is: under which circumstances does adding additional docs (“other”) NOT reset the clock. It seems that if docs are added before the very first review, the first upload date is used.  We still need to find out if that happens after RFE too. It’s such a mystery how NVC work, and we are all getting punished by this system and their arbitrary errors!

Really hope you’re right! When I spoke with NVC they kicked me off the call immediately and said it resets EVERY single time so do not add documents! 💔

Most of the time NVC Tier one officer don't know what they are telling you so it's always better if you get some one over the phone ask for a supervisor because they have more information than tier 1. Secondly 5 years ago NvC use to process second RFE much quicker than the first one so hopefully that's still the case

Additional docs don't reset the clock i had an rfe for my main document I uploaded it on Jan 24 and the additional docs on Jan 25 and my case got completed on April 14 instead of April 15.

I should have mentioned: I spoke with a supervisor too, and they were the ones to angrily re-confirm this information.

RFEs are processed within the 3 months nowadays, have been tracking real cases here and on FB since Oct 2021.. so sadly that part is def wishful thinking!

I am also following FB groups as well and you are right NVC is taking almost 3 months to respond an rfe and I think it's also has to do some thing with the backlogs due to covid as most consulates were operating at minimal level during those times and they are now trying to hold new cases some way so that it doesn't increase the backlogs quicker. But fingers crossed hopefully second rfe is processed quicker all the best.

I’ll just be overjoyed if the clock doesn’t reset.. thank you for your insights!

Submitted my financial documents on January 28th and got an RFE today with two messages:

1. Please submit evidence of income:

I don´t have a job in the US yet and my income comes from foreign sources which I explained in a letter that I submitted. I sent them a statement with my stock portfoliio as proof of assets which more than covered the income requirements but still got the RFE.

2. This case does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted. For more information visit https://nvc.state.gov/aos. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p.

So it looks like they want a joint sponsor.

By the way, all documents show the status of "Accepted". Does that just mean that they were reviewed?

I got the RFE back Feb 2 for a police certificate, and we submitted the same day. So we are close to being reviewed again.

It sounds like all docs were reviewed and accepted but they are asking for additional docs: proof of income (I’m not sure what you should submit on this), and another sponsor.
