USCIS change of address never confirmed via mail

Hi!

I should have though about that earlier but it just hit me that both times I changed my address with USCIS as a green card holder online I never received paper mail copy confirming that. I changed my address twice since I got my GC and both times I notified USCIS online within few days. Both times I received a confirmation email but never mail copy… I think when I saw the online confirmation I thought that was it. But about a month ago I found out that my husband (US citizen) is supposed to inform them of change address too as he is my sponsor for the affidavit. We moved in mid November and only January he submitted the paperwork because simply didn’t know he should do that too. After we submitted his change of address in about couple weeks he got a mail copy confirming that. This is when I realized both times I changed my address I never got an official confirmation via mail. Only email. So now I’m terrified that it didn’t go through somehow even though online confirmation was successful. I will call USCIS tomorrow for a peace of mind but in the mean time do they just not send you a hard mail copy if you file online? And my husband only got his coz he submitted a paper change of address? Finally how do I OFFICIALLY confirm that they have the right address on file for me? I do not want to miss any important documents.

An update:

Just called USCIS. Waited 30 minutes and was on a call for 20 more. Apparently neither of my address change gone throw despite the online confirmation I had. My address with them is the one I had 2 years ago!!! And they have my records under my maiden name which is just ridiculous. The lady on the phone was very confused so was I. She advised me to file new AR11 and mail it together with the screenshots of the confirmation I have. I hope this will net get me in any trouble since I did everything right on my end and they do encourage you to change address online. NEVER AGAIN. Only mail!

I'm glad you called and got the information you needed to fix an issue that should not be an issue in the first place.

It is so disheartening to have constant proof of the system being so amazingly flawed.

Thanks for your update, which will be valuable for others.

It's good that you learned your answer and are able to resolve it!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
