Submittal of Proof of Income Japan

I submitted my proof of income here in Japan for my wife’s visa, this past December.

It is a check stub that was submitted to me from my employer. This should suffice correct?

Also, the thing that was bizarre to be me as well is that they asked for this after all my initial documents were accepted. Does anyone know why this wasn’t requested prior to all my initial documents being submitted. This really prolonged the process.

Thanks in advance.

Pay stubs form the 3 most recent paychecks are recommended.

Hi Mike,

Thanks.

I submitted one stub back in December. Therefore it was the December stub I submitted. Should I submit Jan and Feb as well?

My question also is, I submitted these stubs now will they be check along with the stub I submitted in December.

I am always wary about adding unsolicited evidence as it can sometimes slow down the process.  I advise the beneficiary to bring this evidence to interview

Did they ask for W2s or proof of income from Japan?

And will your income continue after you leave Japan?

I know a few members have had the W2 request and because they have foreign income that won't continue in the US they call NVC or upload a letter stating W2s are unobtainable. NVC seems to pick and choose when to request documents you really don't have to submit.

That’s for the reply.

They did, I wrote that I was under the threshold income of having to file. That was accepted.

My cousin the primary beneficiary (affidavit) for use and all his financials were accepted. They asked me for my the salary form my job here in Japan “after” everything had been accepted.

Actually, the I-864 instructions tell you to provide evidence of current income.  One pay stub is enough.  It would have saved some confusion if you indicated you don't qualify to sponsor, and you have joint sponsor.

If you stated any income that will not continue from the same source once you're in the USA, that was an error.  If the income WILL continue from the same source once in the USA, then no problem

Not sure where anybody gets the idea 3 pay stubs are recommended.  A very old official suggestion was to send six months of pay stubs, but in all the years I've been involved with US Immigrant Immigration Visas, .....1....recent pay stub has been sufficient.

Also, I’d like to clarify that I re-submitted the document in Dec 2021, therefore I submitted my stub form Dec 2021. This is fine correct?

Thank you so much for this insight. I assumed that since I had my sponsors’ income information all confirmed that the income I am making in Japan was irrelevant. The thing that has me a little upset was that NVC caught it late. Way after all documents were approved. Anyhow, the stub I submitting should be checked soon and we should be moving into the interview phase. Thanks again.

The reason they caught it at all, is because you stated a current income when you shouldn't have.  Why they caught it late, I don't know, and it's water under the bridge.

Yes.

I see. I assume I had too.

Well, as you stated water under the bridge.

The insight has bought me some comfort in understanding once this doc is confirmed we will be moving on to the next stages.

I believe they are check November documents at the moment.

Your mistake is a common one.  The instructions say to enter the income you are using to qualify.  You don't have any income to use to qualify.  If you had entered zero, this would not have happened.  Live and learn.
