hi All,

Here's a situation. I have an upcoming visa appointment for IR2 visa. The IR2 visa beneficiary is above 17 but under 18. my questions,

Since the beneficiary is 17, Is the beneficiary (IR2) expected to go to the interview by himself? or is it expected that one of the parent would escort the beneficiary for the interview? Will the consular officer ask questions mostly to the beneficiary or to the parent?

thanks.

A parent can go with the child, but what the questions will be depends on the circumstances.  Definitely, a 17 year old will answer the questions they are asked.  Simple things like if they know the petitioner and wish to immigrate are normal.  Not much reason to ask more, if the parent has already immigrated to the USA or they are immigrating together.

Two of my kids had to come to the interview (K2's) a bit different from and IR2. They were 14 and 16 at the time. They were asked directly a few age appropriate questions. Like what they thought about moving to Arkansas. My snappy 12yr old boy answered right away. He says it's not like we have anything else to do. I almost died and the IO just moved along.
