Hello everyone

Im sorry if I am not posting this correctly im new to the forums i dont know how to make a topic in specifically UK. My fiancee is currently awaiting her interview on the 17th and is completely overwhelmed by this mistake she made on her police certificate. She goes by her legal surname in all cases except when she attends church she is called by her families surname. She was not adopted by her father thus keeping her last name from before. However she wrote on her I129F under the part where it asks for any other names besides her legal surname she goes by and she wrote her families surname on there. On the police certificate she forgot to put the name down. Now she is always anxious about her getting denied because of leaving out that name on the police certificate though its never been a legal name she has gone by. I dont know what to do as its a very specific problem and she takes no ones word but the governments on information. I personally dont think its a reason she could be denied but maybe im wrong i really just want her to be able to calm down and stop worrying every waking day about this matter its driving a wedge into our relationship. Please if anyone can direct me to a government quote saying this is ok or let me know if i should find a way to change this before the interview i would greatly appreciate it.

The police certificate needs to match her legal name how it's shown in her passport. Many put nicknames in that field where it asks for other names used ( I put my Roller Derby alias down cause I use it on social media as well) but don't get police certificates for these names.

Let her call the embassy and ask them or get a second police certificate for the other name.

Thanks for the reply she did put her legal name down. just failed to put the other nickname down and is afraid they will think she is hiding something from them come the interview due to the discrepancy

It’s pretty hard to get denied at an interview in London. I’m talking from experience going back over a decade. So tell her there is zero chance this police certificate issue will cause a denial.  If they even bother to notice a discrepancy or bring it up, she can explain as you did. The worse that could happen is they would tell her to order another police certificate and pause her visa until she provides it. Once they receive it, they issue the visa. If she is that worried, she could get ahead by ordering another now and she would have it sooner. Or call ACRO and ask them about the situation and if she can get an amendment without starting from scratch with photos, etc.
