Agreed, of course the less time spent out of the country is best.  But my original question was trying to see if anyone had experiences on arrival with GC vs RP.  In your example, did it benefit anyone to return on day 250 with GC or RP... or day 360 GC or RP.  If not, then I think based on responses, Ill take the risk and leave and upon arrival enter with GC.  I feel like CBP officer will decide how difficult to make the entry.

Hi.. DOn't you think 250 days will create problem as it cerated to me in last trip...?

Hello.   Yes, I think any extended trip could create a problem.  That is why I was asking for experiences.

If you could you explain what happened to you, and the circumstances?  It would help me and the community understand the pros and cons of using GC or RP.-- disregard, i saw your post.

Hello.  Looking for experiences traveling outside of US for less than 1 year with Green Card.  Is there any value to get a reentry permit vs just using the Green Card (as long as trip is less than 1 year).  Trying to determine if the reentry permit does anything more during reentry.  And the trip will last less than 1 year.  (I know if it were more than 1 year, the I would need to get a reentry permit).

No value but it’s good to have in case your return is delayed.  Enter without question.

As noted in another thread we did get a written note from leaving in Jan and returning in Dec, but that did not affect our next trip.

Hello.  You left in Jan and returned in Dec of the same year?  And the CBP put a note in your passport?

Thank you, seems like the "best" case scenario given the time your wife was out of the country for almost a year.  I appreciate you telling me your situation, it helps me.
