I-751 deadline

Is the deadline to file the i-751 before the green card expires or does USCIS have to have received it and issued something that they received it by then?

It goes by post mark date. For example if your GC expires on 04.29, if the package is postmarked 04.29 you're still good. Now the problem might arise when you file too late and they reject the package

Well, you made my doubt ! I could swear I read of cases in VJ that sent it right before the deadline and somebody said that as long as it was postmarked prior to the expiration date it was fine. Now, I am not so sure! 

Anyways, OP: why are you wanting to send it so late?

We are finishing the i-751 and will have it sent 11 days prior to the expiration of the green card and we are going to have it sent overnight shipping so it arrives the following day. Is this enough time?

It appears that the filing date is the date an application is physically received and accepted by USCIS:

Absolutely. Agreed with @Crazy Cat

We've sent everything priority mail, and it takes 2 days to arrive. So, if we were to send a package this next Monday, February 5th., the received date for our case would be February 7th.

From all the posts about rejection of ROC due to early filing, it seems the received date is the filing date.

 

For example, someone sends the package 91 days (postmarked) before their cGC expires, USCIS receives it next day, it is accepted.

 

Someone else sends it 3 months +1 day, which could be 93 days from cGC expiry, USCIS receives it on the 91st day, they reject it for filing too early.
