Hi I am filling up my Form N-400. Under the "Time outside united states" I should say how many days did I spent outside United states for the past 5 years. Time line:

Today is 2022--- 5 years back track will be from 2017-2021

I arrive in the USA sept 19, 2019. So does this means my answer should be 932 days since I was still living in the Philippines for more than 2 years in 2017 to sept of 2019.

Any answers will be very helpful. Thank you so much

you arrived in the US in 9 /2019

u r not yet able to apply for citizenship

u must be a LPR for 5 year rule (date of your green card)

  • Show you have been a lawfully admitted permanent resident of the United States for at least five years;
  • Demonstrate continuous residence in the United States for at least five years immediately before the date you file Form N-400;
  •

if filing under 3 year rule married to USC ,   u would not worry about the time outside the US before your arrival / it is after arrival for time spent outside the US

3 Years of Continuous Residence. The spouse of a U.S. citizen residing in the United States must have continuously resided in the United States as an LPR for at least 3 years immediately preceding the date of the filing the application and up to the time of the Oath of Allegiance.

Hi I appreciate you response.

So do you think there will be no problem if they see that I was in the Phils for more than 2 years? even though technically I am still living there that time. Its just that when I joined the army, Its still less than  years.

Military service is a special section of INA and physical presence does not matter.

You can check eligibility here

Some info here:

I do not know all of the details of the program but I do know that if you are eligible under Sections 328 or 329 physical presence does not apply to you.
