If you are just finding out about the K1 visa, then I suggest you also take a look at the information for the CR1 visa.

 

CR1 is vastly superior to K1, but it does require you to be married first and have bona-fide relationship evidence.

I agree with @SteveInBostonI130, research all possibilities.  The CR1/IR1 is much more superior than the K1 and the processing times for K1 has extended quite a bit as of late.

Have u thought to marry and do the CR1 (spouse ) visa

it is far more superior 

about the same in timeframes as the K1 now and cheaper in long run,  and easier to get things needed here like SS #,  DL,  health insurance,  and everything else that is needed in the USA

hello @Dashinka I am in Ghana while he is from the US. He is visiting next month again. I'm just researching between k-1 visa and CR1/IR1 which will be more suitable for us

Every couple has their own priorities, and each couple must decide which visa is better for their situation.

K-1        
    More expensive than CR-1    
    Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)    
    Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 6-8 months)    
    Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 6-8 months)    
    Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period    
    Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed.
    A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire
  

CR-1
    Less expensive than K-1    
    No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765) required.    
    Spouse can immediately travel outside the US    
    Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival.    
    Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US    
    Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport.

    Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.

Ghana is a difficult consulate because Ghana is a high fraud visa country. That means that you will need a lot of proof of bona fide relationship. 

Both K1 and CR1 are difficult, but K1 even more so. It's better to go the marriage route for Ghana, particularly since your first meeting was last month.

CR1 for Ghana and the USC should spend as much time in Ghana to help prove the relationship is real
