Hi all,

We submitted all our docs for NVC on Jan 28th! Back into the waiting...

I haven't seen a thread for us recent NVC submitters yet to track progress so hoping this catches on and people can come here to see how we all progress!

Best of luck to everyone, may we all get DQ'd first try with no RFEs 🤞😁

Of potential interest ---- my husband called the panel physician's office in Auckland.  We were going to get medical done in Wellington but the experience with the doctor in Welly was a bit strange to say the least, so decided to call the one in Auckland for information.  They say they currently have a backlog of 300 US immigration applicants for medicals!

Oh my - did they say how long the wait was?? Is getting the medical done prior to having your interview date something you can do, we were going to wait as I'm not even sure all the locations that you can get them here (we are south island based) and I thought they provided further information on where it can be done after DQ'd?? Do they expire?

There are only two - one in Wellington, one in Auckland.  Stay away from the Wellington guy.  He gets terrible reviews.   They didn't say but did say it would be a week or so before they'd call back to schedule an appointment.  They are good for at least 6 months but ....  I believe the order is medical, interview, get visa, enter US -- and the "enter US" has to be before the medical is 6 months old.

Okay yea that's what I thought - we were going to wait until we had an interview date to book so that we could coordinate a day or two before the interview and avoid two round trips to Akld. Hopefully we will be able to get a booking on the date needed 😬

We are working on our NVC docs, I am wondering how many pay stubs I should submit. Also I am wondering if I can submit a cover letter explaining our financial situation in detail as I was unemployed for the first 5 months of 2021 and my 1040 doesn't show a whole year's income. I will be able to give my husband my 1040 and W-2 for next year when the interview is likely to be. Also I am concerned about that last post since my husband has a 2.5 hour flight each time he needs to go to Mumbai.

Yes, cover letter is good.  I ended up writing another letter, in addition to the cover about the lack of a W2 (because I'm not working in the US) and the NZ police certificate situation (as they keep getting it wrong), so explanations are good, just keep them short and to the point.

Medical can be anywhere you can find panel physician and I think you can look those up on the State Department website by country.

Hi @greenparrot,

Yea I agree with @MEAJCC1 here - cover letters are good 👍

You can submit as many paystubs / cover letters as you want, just try to make sure it's labelled clearly and uploaded under the right category! I work overseas currently as I still live with my husband in New Zealand. Instead of W2, I submitted my  last 3 paystubs from my current position & a cover letter explaining my current employment in NZ, my plans to find work in the U.S. and explaining our assets to meet the I-864 requirement.

That medical info above is very specific to NZ - as @MEAJCC1said, check out the State Department website. NZ only has two places in the country where we can get the medical but India may have more.

FYI folks -- U.S. Consulate in Auckland page says they've cancelled Feb and March (through 11th at least) in-person interviews.  That will set the queue of interviews back by a month or so.  I would expect as long as "red level" 2 or 3 lasts, this will be the case.

Hi.

I emailed the consulate last night just to check that they have received my police vetting and forwarded it onto the NVC. I got an automatic reply email with FAQs in it.

Based on that email, it looks like interviews are still going ahead for certain visa classes, including the IR-1, CR-1 & K-1 visas.

  • "Are you open for immigrant visa services?  The Consulate remains closed to routine IV applicants requiring in-person interviews until Auckland enters the Orange Level of the COVID-19 Protection Framework / Traffic Light System.  If you have an emergency situation or you are applying for a non-routine service, then you can contact AucklandIV@state.gov for further assistance.  At this time, the only visa categories approved as non-routine include IR-1/2, CR-1/2, K-1/2, and SB-1 returning resident visas.  We will be in touch directly with applicants who fall into one of these categories.

  • What immigrant visa categories are you processing currently?  At this time, the only visa categories approved as “non-routine” include IR-1/2, CR-1/2, K-1/2, and SB-1 visas. We will be in touch directly with applicants who fall into one of these categories. We have not begun processing any other immigrant visa categories, nor do we anticipate that we will be able to do so before January 2022. We are, however, still accepting documents from applicants applying in other immigrant visa categories. "

Yay thanks for the update. Let us know if they respond for the police vetting question. I suppose I should do the same. I only uploaded confirmation it had been sent by the NZ police vetting service.

Will do.  I uploaded the confirmation email from the police in the CEAS as well. Probably not necessary to have emailed the consulate to check (I am sure they would have sent it). Just figured no harm in asking to get some peace of mind.
