Hey guys!

Long story short, I came to visit my fiance (Now husband!!! 🤩🤩) in September, Canada started with covid lockdowns again so I decided to stay longer, We decided to get married (Yay! Married on January 22nd) while we were still waiting on our NOA2 from our k1 which we filed back in April of 2021, myself being from Canada, and the long wait of the approval of NOA2 which still hasn't come had us worried our process won't be approved until 2023 at the least as Montreal is taking forever to conduct interviews.

Decided the time separated was too hard on us, and well, here we are.

I am trying to find all the applications needed but myself being tech inept is proving to be a bit complicated for myself to find on this website.

I am gathering we need to file I-130 and I-485 concurrently together. As well as I-864.

Do we need to send a cheque for each the I-130 and I-485? Or is it just the AOS which needs to be paid for?

If both need to be paid for can they both be put on one cheque or two separate cheques?

Also, since I was planning on returning to Canada and plans changed, I still have my entire life there! I am going to be selling my vehicle, but I am wondering how I go about having my items sent over. I will be shipping some of my own furniture as his furniture is bachelor tier (old hand-me-down sort of stuff haha), which sort of paperwork would I need? Would the receipt of the AOS be good enough or would I have to wait until I get my green card?

Any other information would be great guys, thank you!

It is completely DIY if you take your time, read through the forms and make sure you gather all documents.
Also, if you do K1 bear in mind you will not be able to work or travel abroad for 8-9 months.

Oh no, we had applied for k1 in Apr, 2021 but got married the other week while still waiting for our NOA2. So we've abandoned the k1 process entirely.

I'm just saying I did so much research on the k1 when we filed, but now we went a different route, I'm like a lost puppy trying to figure everything out.

I don't think I'd be able to work for awhile regardless while waiting for AOS to be approved but we already plan for myself to stay home and take care of home duties. (Build a front yard garden, level backyard, renovate some rooms etc) so I'll be very busy and won't get stir crazy from not working. 😂

If you stay in the US and file for AOS via your USC spouse, you cannot return to Canada until the advance parole (AP) is approved, and the wait time can be as long as 8-10 months from the time of filing the proper forms.  If you leave the US before receiving the AP (most apply for work permit as well and receive an AP/EAD combo card), the AOS will be invalidated.  The AOS process is similar as that for the K-1.  Are you able to arrange for a family member or friend in Canada to sell your vehicle for you, and to ship your items on your behalf?  An international shipping company should be able to help you with questions about the paperwork required.  Good luck!

Thanks!

The vehicle part is easy, already contacted the registries office of my province and all I need to do is sign the paperwork and state on bill of sale that my father is selling on my behalf. Easy peasy!

Most people usually bring their stuff with them via K1 or spousal visa but because of the circumstances I am unsure how to go about it.

I'm just a bit overwhelmed! Haha!

Thanks again! I'll message a shipping company and see what they say in regards of if a receipt for AOS is good enough!! 🤩
