Interview date before medical has been completed?

Has anyone gotten an interview date before actually completing their medical? Or is it likely that they won't issue the date until the medical comes back ok?

Yes you can - if the medical is close to the interview there may be a light delay in issuing the visa whilst they deal with the paperwork. Don't book your ticket too close to the interview date! (unless it is flexible)

Good luck!

Thanks everyone! I just wanted to know if it is worth calling to see "when is our interview date?!" if we haven't had the medical yet.

Yeah the flight isn't a big deal. I work for an airline, I am fortunate to be very flexible with travel - we can book on the day if needed.

I'd say so - my husband was out of the country during the waiting for packet 4 phase. We tentatively scheduled an interview for around the time we thought we might get the interview. I emailed asking for a date - when we got one, it was not practical to keep the previous appointment so we rescheduled for the day before. It took a full 14 business days to get the visa. We got it the day before he was supposed to fly out! Even though the ticket was flexible, it made us sweat a bit!

The only down side to interviewing before the medical is that they won't issue your visa until the medical results reach them. Medical results tend to take approximately 4 days to reach the embassy after the medical has taken place.

I was finally able to get through to the Dept of State - our case is "open and eligible for an interview - just one has not been scheduled yet" ooh exciting!!!

Thanks Daisy! Even Conrad, who is the most laid back person ever, is starting to get excited. The FedEx came today with all our financial support documents and he called me at 6:30 to tell me it came.
