Hi all,

Quick summary I was granted by initial 2 year GC in Dec 2015, moved here full time in March 2016 on a spouse Visa, my wife and I are still very much together. My conditions were lifted 2019, I've not been in any rush to file my N-400 and I'm now thinking of applying. Due to the length of time I've been in the country, and the fact I'm with my spouse do I apply under the 3 or 5 year rule. I think less documents are needed under the 5 year rule, but didn't know if there was a best practice. My timeline is upto date. Thanks in advance, Mike

So if you are applying with the 5 year rule do you skip the marriage questions on the application? How do you choose the 3 or 5 year rule when you are filling out the application?

Don't skip any question.  If you're processing Naturalization based on the 3 year rule, in the N-400 form, on part one, choose 1.B., and if you're filing under the 5 year rule, in the N-400 Form, in part 1, choose 1.A.
