Hi, quick question: what did you do about your stepdaughter BC? Did you have to submit it?

In my experience, timelines are accurate. I have never heard of an N400 taking so long. What's your FO?

This bothers me because i did not list my deceased husband children's

Hi! When you married your husband automatically his kids are Your stepchildren .He doesnt have their birth certificate? Maybe asked his ex wife a copy of their kids' birth and death certificate?

Now there's a possibility I will get denied because I did not list my deceased husband children who are older than me

It would help during your interview if you write it legibly on a piece of bond paper your explanation about your stepchildren.

Thank you for saying that, I have to write it down and explain during interview but still they gonna tell me I lied

Please do not add unnecessary worry. USCIS that they are her stepchildren only if they are minors at the time the marriage happened.

OP if you give me just a few minutes I can post the info about USCIS stepchildren.

Thank you  I am so worried right now, my husband passed away last October 5, 2021, all the burden in me, taking cared alone. When he is alive no one of his children came here at the house but still they are his children

My own was 15 months from application to Oath.

Just depends on the office dealing with your application and your specific case. One of my friends applied to the same office two months after me and she is still waiting for an interview. She will be 2 years this coming May

Congratulations

They are not gonna tell you that you lied. Ask your husband to help you with your explanation and start with confusion of the question.

I dont think you will be denied because of this. Just assume that during your interview that USCIS already knows a lot about you. The questions during the interview will be just affirmations that you are telling the truth. Dont be scared (Hwag Kang Matakot). Everything is going to be.

  1. Indicate your total number of children. (You must indicate ALL children, including: children who are alive, missing, or deceased; children born in the United States or in other countries; children under 18 years of age or older; children who are currently married or unmarried; children living with you or elsewhere; current stepchildren; legally adopted children; and children born when you were not married.* "I'm not adding unnecessary worry" if anything I'm trying to help her just like all of us here.

There are a couple of things to consider. First, a child becomes your stepchild if they are minors when you married their father.

Second, it is not considered misrepresentation. For something to be misrepresentation, the question is "If you had said during your interview or in your paper that the child is your stepchild, would that have prevented you from becoming naturalized?" The answer is no.

Third, it would be a different story if this was your bio kid. And you would only get in trouble if you would plan to petition for him/ her in the future. That's not your case.

You can explain during the interview.

Hi! I just had my interview last week and trust me when you are there they will give you a chance to go through your application. If you need to correct something or explain to them why you dont have information about things . You are gonna be fine.

Yes, but prior to answering OP's question, you should have resorted to the Policy Manual. Chapter 8, section A, "Definition of a Child": Third bullet point:

  • The stepchild of a U.S. citizen or LPR parent who is under 18 at the time of the marriage, creating the step-relationship;

That doesn't seem to be OP's case.

OP, were any of the children under 18 when you married?

Got it. My bad about not resorting to the Policy Manual.
