Federal student financial aid

Hello everyone,

My husband is attempting to receive aid to attend school in the fall. I want to know if everyone ran into problems collecting financial aid? The school is giving my husband a hard time. What paperwork was required with your application for aid? They are requiring a lot of paperwork and they are giving us the run around. Please share any insights. Thank you

Me, same thing. But as I see in your timeline your GC will be soon in hand, so you will be very fine. Write me about particular questions, but form is here, and by the way, one of the best made forms I have seen so far.

Its not so much about financial aid. I think school plays big role. I feel very welcome and school is protective, ready to wait for me and my papers.

If school gives hard time, look for other school who wont.

As your husband has his Green Card he should be eligible for Federal Student Aid. I don't know whythe school would give you a hard time.

I just enrolled at school and I start monday. Filling out the FAFSA was easy, and all they do is check you have a green card and then the school shouldn't give you any hassle either. What do they want?

I had to call the president of the financial aid department to receive assistance. The school wanted a copy of our marriage license, my income tax, and they wanted a income tax non-filers form for my husband. The office never mentioned the non-filer form. We easily ordered the form yesterday from the irs. It will arrive in 7-10 days. Thank you everyone for your help!

That's pure ignorance on their part, because as a permanent resident, you're entitled to federal financial aid. Absolutely ridiculous that they should give you a hard time about that. Good luck.
