I am new to the site, but I see a lot of comments about apply for expedited processing. How do you get qualified? I know I need to email the consulate once my file is DQ'd, but I am wondering who qualifies? And how long does it usually take?

It all depends on why you one needs to immigrate asap other than just to be together. Only you know why you need to to be with your spouse asap.

2016-07-06: DS-260 Submitted

2016-07-07: AOS and IV Package mailed

2016-07-08: NVC Scan

2017-06-30: Interview, approved

2017-07-04: Visa in hand

2017-08-01: Entry to US

Okay but what reasons do they usually approve?

Most people only have one reason, if you have multiple reasons then I would include them all.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

My guess is that if your reason was sufficient, you would have mentioned it all ready.  You cannot contrive evidence.  You must actually have a qualifying reason.  Otherwise, everybody would be requesting an expedite an it would do nobody any good.

What is YOUR reason?

I’m not attempting to contrive anything. I am not even at the stage of being able to request an expedition. I am proactively asking for a medical reason and I have read several posts where the question was asked.

And if people are trying to contrive evidence, USCIS would not publish a list of typical acceptable reasons.

You can expedite at any stage of the process, USCIS, NVC, or Consulate.  "A medical reason" is quite vague.  The kinds of medical reasons that work, related to the US Citizen needing care only the foreign spouse can give.  The foreign spouse's medical condition is generally not reason for expedite.  If you are more specific, the senior members here can offer an opinion.  Otherwise, you already have the link to the information you need regarding "reasons".

Yes. The link was all I needed.

That's not how that works. You don't just fabricate a reason that you think will be approved.

Being tired of waiting is not a reason.

And most of the time, the USC is better off receiving such care in a hospital from qualified professionals anyway.
