As far as financial documents go, Is submitting just the 2020 tax return transcript enough? On the application it says if your filing status is single (which mine was in 2020), just need to submit the tax return transcript. No need to submit w-2 or 1099s. I am getting diff information every time I read about this.

Read those I-864 instructions again carefully, as to what to submit.  Also indicated is a need to show evidence of current income.  Even if it wasn't in the instructions, it would be prudent to do so.

If submitting a complete tax return, you need W2s and 1099s, but with a tax return transcript you don't.  Context matters here.

thank you! I have the 2020 transcripts and my filing status in 2020 was single. So I think I just need to submit tax transcript.

Some posts here in VJ mention to submit W2 even with transcript. So I wasn't sure. But from what I read on the application, I think in my case it's just transcript that's required. I will also submit employment letter.

Again thanks!

No need for an employer letter if you have a recent pay stub.

Actually correcting myself... I just checked my documents/filing.  The tax documents are with my AOS I-864ez.  I take back what I said of not having a problem :)  coz am still at NVC stage waiting for their review.  However, submitted what was downloaded from IRS along with a copy of latest W2.

When you mean cover letter you referring to just a letter writing what’s including in the pdf or the actually story how we met or is that different?
