If you already have both your GC and your SSN, yes, it's best to inform your bank. The bank needs the info to properly report to the IRS any interest you earn in your bank account. Source: my personal experience.

It's a small detail, and no government body is about to come running after you for such a petty thing, but yes, it does matter.

are u sure?

As sure as an internet stranger can be. I think my bank sent me once a status verification letter, but that was prior to my green card.
I never had any issues

did u have a SS # and use it when u opened the bank account?

if u did ,  no need to need to notify the bank

if u got your SS  # after AOS and bank does not have it,  then , yes,  the bank needs copy of your SS card and good to have copy of the green card with photo ID

Why don’t you call the bank and ask that very question. Then you get the correct answer for your situation and your bank. They may want a W-7 form from you, and they may not.

Form W-7 https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw9.pdf
