Hi guys~ Recently, I went to the n400 interview and got approved. Since I did a name change, the judicial oath ceremony was scheduled a few weeks after my appointment.  And I have some questions that are related to what to do before and after the oath ceremony, as well as the order of changing names at different offices.

1) You just need to complete the questions behind the appointment letter in the morning before your oath ceremony? Or do you need to fill it out in the courthouse and then sign it? You just need to bring your GC right? (Only have the 10-year green card.) No need to bring any other documents from when you're preparing for your n400 interview?

2) Do you need to pay for NC separately? Or is it already included in the fees you paid before applying for n400?

3) Would you recommend getting a certified copy at the courthouse if possible? Or does it just not matter as long as you have the original NC?

4) Is there a specific order in changing your name? (The social security offices around here are currently closed. The website says to mail them the original documents. Once you're a citizen, can you just fill application online and be done with that though? )

Can I apply for a passport first and then do a name change at SSA and then DMV?

Where would you recommend going for applying for the passport?

5) I saw people posting about there are places within the courthouse that will help you to register to vote. Just out of curiosity, how many of you guys registered to vote?

Thank you so much for all your help, I really appreciate it.

My husband was given an additional document with the NC that mentions the name change, it's his proof that his name was changed at the oath. He just has one original copy of that, and so far just sending a copy of the original has been enough to update his name elsewhere. (Exception being the passport, they wanted originals.)

There's no specific order. You can apply for documents in your new name whenever you want. We did the passport first because it just seemed logical, as it also serves as proof of citizenship. My husband managed to get an in-person appointment at the SSA last summer, he just called them and they told him to come in. Probably varies from city to city though.

Sorry for replying so late. Thank you so much! I was also thinking about applying for a passport first and then going to other offices to change the name.
