Delays After 'Issued' Status

Hello,

 

My fiancé had his interview last Tuesday (the 18th) and was approved. He was told to return to pick up his passport/visa in person on Wednesday the 26th. After the regular status changes on CEAC, on Friday, the status changed to 'Issued'. It was again updated (same status) on Monday. This Tuesday, however, the embassy emailed saying that his visa would not be ready for pick-up on Wednesday and that they would let us know when it's ready, with no further information. Is this normal? What could be the possible reasons for this delay (especially since the mail system is not involved)? The status still says 'issued' online, but this is making us a little nervous.

Could be a simple as they are having staffing issues at the consulate, or maybe their visa printing machine broke down.  Hopefully it will not be a long delay.

I wouldn’t worry too much.  When I was going through the same embassy, I received a call when I was on my way to pick up my passport that their computer system had a problem, and that they might not be able to print the visa that day.  Give it a couple of days, and I’m sure he will get his visa shortly.

12/02/2021 approved and shipped
