Even under normal pre-pandemic conditions a decision within 5 months would be extraordinary

This process takes patience / a lot of patience

it will be about a year before the petition itself gets an "approval "  notice which just means all the needed documents are there for that part Step 1

then the case goes to NVC and waits for Ecuador to send for it to interview

u should check the guides above

u should read the portal for Ecuador and posts and timelines of other people going thru that embassy

and USCIS doesn't discriminate for not being straight

these posted timelines at USCIS are the last thing they update as they are short staffed still

as for hearing day to day, week to week or month to month about your case,  u will not unless the USC gets a RFE because a document is needed or something needs to be explained

Really? The website told me 4-6 for an update (not a decision specifically, just anything) and even now it's still saying  4-8. They should really update the time estimate to match their work load so people won't think they're being left out in cases like mine.

I'm actually surprised so many Ecuadorians want to even come here tbh. Their country is way better. The only reason I'm staying in the US for now is BC I don't know how to get my pets there yet (cat and turtle) since no plane will take them across the ocean in that direction and BC my grandma has no passport and can't travel with us if we did go permanently. But legit I just got back from there for a Christmas vacation and I almost didn't come home with my mom and brother. That's how nice it is there.

Ecuador is only nice for those who have a decent job and money

My gf has no job or money and she actually wishes I could go there instead of her coming to America tbh. We guess it's because she's already used to that life and therefore sees nothing wrong with living with what you get day by day. Though to be fair, America is only fun of you have money too. Even just being able to eat and have a roof over your head can cost you thousands every month. Meanwhile in Ecuador we only spent about 500 total on 6 people not including gifts and stuff we buy and do for fun. And that includes the hotel (only 2 rooms 4 people).

We only decided on America BC it's the better option family care wise (the grandmother I mentioned) and the country isn't completely religious which makes it "easier" for gays to exist and marry (at least for those outside of Texas smh) Maybe sometime in the future we'll go back to Ecuador permanently but I'd rather us have American passports too so we can travel back home to visit family easily without the need for constant visas.

I didn't expect a response immediately, just one the was within the bracket they gave me. Someone told me they're more backed up then what the website claims, though admittedly it still bothers me that they're getting to people who submitted after us before us. You'd think they'd go in order lol. That's another reason I thought they were discriminating. Especially since we have the Texas building of all buildings. Texas seems to hate everything these days.

It is going to be much much quicker for you to sort out your transportation issues and your Grandmother's passport.

I tried but all airports said no to the turtle and cat when going to Ecuador specifically. I can try again in the future but at this point since I already paid the first 535 plus whatever else I spent on this visa I may as well wait. And do the passport meanwhile.

The main website where you type your case number. There's a little section where you can check processing times based on visa type and it said 4-7 months currently. Just checked it again to see it changed once more and to make it worse the estimate is now only for couples with K3/K4 instead of K1.
