My 10 year old daughters best friend is mexican, and has been picking up some heat at school for it. My daughter is getting it as well for being spanish, and they concider her from MEXICO, and shes explained her biological father came from spain, and actually sd "spain dont even border the US so why are you even picking on me?" Anyway, the weird part is most of the kids picking on my daughter and her best friend, are doing it mainly in their words "your an immigrant from mexico and your not white!"

well first of all they were born here, so i should shove my foot up their mothers arses for even letting their kids think this way, and second 2 of the girls doing the picking are asian!!!!!!!!!!!! get my point on that one?

and these are all 4th graders.

When i did call the principle about this, her responce was "they are kids, and kids will be kids". so now im on hold with the Alachua county school board!

I understand normal teasing, but when it gets to the point where kids are too upset to even stay in school because at lunch and at recess they are being teased for being "mexican" or "not white", the principle should intervene! and if not, then i take it to a higher person.

i'd do the same thing. what those girls are doing is bullying, and I don't know if your school has policies on bullying, but ours does. I agree with some of the kids are mean and kids are kids thing, but there is a line that shouldn't be crossed and those girls just crossed it.

When i called her best friends mom (a friend of mine as well) she got a call from her daughter as well. now my daughter is in her room crying REFUSING to talk to anyone, even me. i will wait until she is calm and TRY to explain the stupidity of this world.

and im my opinion, 4th graders shouldnt be worried about this kinda #######, they should be focused on SCHOOL!! not immigration, and protests and WHO IS WHITE AND WHO IS NOT!!!

I know how frustrated you must be. My 5th grader is a victim of the school bully (for no reason other than my child is a shy quiet kid) and we are currently battling the administration over it.

sometimes i dont think the administration even cares. I know next year my daughter will be going to another school, because for the last 2 years weve had nothing but problems at this school shes at now, its the teachers and the principle.
