First of all let me say I live in Wisconsin, my wife is a healthcare worker in a state run facility and my brother is in the the national guard in another state and I can assure you from what they have both told me this article is way under reporting the magnitude of what is going on here.

First I'll start with my wife. She works at a large nursing home where national guard members have already been deployed WITHOUT CNA or any other type of medical training and are basically being ordered to learn on the job and it is already turning into a disaster. My wife's friend called her today and told her about what happened with one of the guard members she was training. Basically it was time to clean up one of the residents and he freaked out and said "I can't do this" and walked out of the room. Let me say I have respect for the guard and I am not holding anything against any of them here but it takes a certain type of person to do that type of work (I know I couldn't do it, I don't know how my wife does) and simply ordering combat trained members of the military with no medical training to act as CNAs is not gonna end well.

As far as my brother goes he is in a national guard unit in another state and he said members of his unit have been ordered to go for CNA training. This is not isolated to Wisconsin and it is not isolated to the 80 guard members cited in the article.

The crazy thing is the facility my wife works at is letting a covid positive symptomatic employee who is vaccinated work while my wife has symptoms of a mild cold, 3 negative covid tests in the last 4 days and she has been told to stay home the last 4 days because she is unvaccinated. The same thing is happening with many of her unvaccinated coworkers so there is essentially no need for the national guard if they would just let covid negative people come to work and stop obsessing over vaccination status.

This has been a Charlie Foxtrot from the very beginning.

Who's doing the ordering?

What's the remedy?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

So earlier this month hubby was told/ordered/demanded to dump half of the plans and *budget* he'd been working for months on to make room for the guard that was going to roll on up to the college and apparently train them to be CNAs in... like 3 weeks at insane hours. We are like.... whuuuuuut??? How? There's no way they can cram that much in and come out knowing for sure what they are doing. These are people with no background knowledge in anything medical either.

Where my wife works unvaccinated employees are forced to stay home if they have so much as a sniffle even with multiple negative covid tests while symptomatic covid positive vaccinated employees are allowed to work.

At least those guard members are getting some training. The ones deployed where my wife works have received no training and are learning on the job.

That makes absolutely no sense, but of course it is political, it has nothing to do with science.

At this point we consider ourselves fortunate that they accepted her religous exemption and she can work at all.
