USC filing I-130 / consular processing while in the US

My USC spouse and I, a Canadian citizen, are wrapping up an extended vacation (been here since early Dec) in US right now. We were going to go back next month and file the I-130 in Canada and do consular processing in Montreal. Maybe it was naive of us for not checking the timelines earlier, but we did not realize processing is taking up to 2 years right now!!
We still will continue this route (not interested in doing AOS), but wanted to fill out the I-130 and send it asap vs waiting 5 weeks until we get back to Canada. Perhaps that is impatient but will it be looked upon unfavourably that we filed it while we were in the US vs waiting until we are back in Canada?

Just be careful to complete the form properly for a foreigner who is IN the USA now. Careful around the entry data section and be sure to indicated Not Applicable as to the USCIS office and then be clear to indicate Montreal.  This SHOULD avoid your petition being sent to storage after approval instead of to the National Visa Center but they DO make mistakes when they see the beneficiary is currently in the USA.
