USPS may have lost my green card

Timeline

Our interview was the 3th of january, we were approved and on the 12th of january USPS sent our package and since then it has been on its way. It was suppose to arrive the 18th but it never did. Since then our status changed to "its on its way, arriving late" and has never updated since. We contacted USPS but said they do not know what they can do. I contacted USCIS and they said if after 30 days I dont receive it I should pay to get a new card. I am so frustrated and do not know what to do. Is this normal????

I am sorry for my government doing this to you.  It is a national embarrassment.  
 

it is  not  quite normal and yet it is  not unexpected. Usps workers are demoralized, understaffed, overworked, and high attrition. Green cards lots by usps happen every day and not a month goes by without me hearing about it.  

 

You likely spoke to a USCIS tier 1 officer who misspoke when you were told you would have to pay for the replacement.
