Pretty sure Langley are pooping bricks right about now. For all his faults, Putin has been fairly controlled when it comes to nuclear weapons. Prigozhin is way less predictable, and he is the one we know is involved.

 

Kadyrov, the Chechen warlord has backed Putin, yet in the past has criticized him for not being brutal enough. There’s no telling how long he will remain loyal, if things look like they’re going South. And he makes Prigozhin and his thugs look like angels.

 

if Russia descends into civil war, the threat of nuclear weapons being used will rise exponentially. The generals seem none too bright and I see the Russian military, with its low morale, fracturing and making things worse.

 

If this attempted coup is serious, the whole Eastern European dynamic changes.

We were unaware of this development until a few hours ago when my wife tried to call our friends in Rostov.  My wife is from Rostov-on-Don and I have spent considerable time there and even owned an apartment there some years ago.

 

Our friends live fairly close to the military air base, and while my wife was able to get through, internet was very bad and eventually the connection went dead.  My wife called other friends that live near the city center and had better luck.  Wagner group in the streets and regular military surrounding much of the city reinforced by Chechen fighters. Roads into and out of the city are blocked.   According to our friends there is no petrol available, and the stores have been emptied of most food staples.  Many folks are staying home and in basements.  Now it seems most of the Wagner prisoner group are headed north to Moscow, and it seems Putin may have left and gone into hiding, but not real sure about the details.

Freaky to watch the videos of an area I know so well.  Seems like all civilians are fine, but scared. 

 

BUT, this "armed rebellion" is not against the war in Ukraine.  It's against Putin and the military for not letting this group have all the resources they need to go on to win the war quickly.

 

Wanted to add that this Wagner group is dangerous.  Primarily guys that were in prison.  Bad and unpredictable hoodlums.  Keep watching closely.

According to RT, the Wagner group has waved off their march to Moscow and are returning to their field camps.  The military has control of the roads into Moscow.  Wagner may have control of the southern military facilities.  Prigozhian is being seen as a traitor.  Putin will "take care of him".  

 

Prigozhian would have been better off turning against Hillary...

Wagner is a mx, they have a core who know what they are doing and cannon fodder, but then the Russian forces are sort of similar in composition.

 

I have been following the special operation and remain surprised about how little real information is out there.

 

Hopefully Perun will do his take tomorrow. I keep on wondering if my Grandparents had better information about WW2 than I do about this.

Personally I think Prigozhin knew he had gone to far already so this entire thing was staged in order to allow him to escape to Belarus.   Now we will see if Lukashenko is a better friend to Prigozhin or Putin.
