Thought this was appropriate here as it has more to do with how the US is propping up Ukraine with US taxpayer money.

In the past few days, pro-war media outlets like National Review and “enlightened experts” have expressed outrage at The Heritage Foundation for taking a commonsense position that’s supported by 55% of Americans. (The Daily Signal is Heritage’s news and commentary outlet.)

 

 

Heritage’s position is straightforward:

• Congress shouldn’t attach the aid to domestic disaster relief as Biden proposed.
• Lawmakers shouldn’t appropriate anything more until Biden offers a robust plan to end the war soon.
• And the American people deserve transparency for how their money is being spent.

Regardless of your views on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine—personally, I’m proud of my Ukrainian heritage and remain hopeful that Ukraine ultimately defeats Russia—these are not radical or controversial requirements to expect from the commander in chief and members of Congress.

It is not for Sleepy Joe to put forward a robust plan to end the war. There is zero possibility that the antagonist in the Ukraine conflict will be amenable to an American solution. 

 

The only way Sleepy Joe can effect an end to the show is to commit US

forces to end the Russian resistance to the Ukrainian counteroffensive before they run out of personnel. And that’s a “Hell! No!” from every sane person in the West.

 

Given proportional support from the start, this conflict could and should have been resolved well before now. But the West has dragged its collective feet, doing just enough to keep things going and not enough to provide a decisive advantage. It’s almost as if allowing Ukraine to achieve victory was not the agenda in play here.

What is interesting is that the leadership of Russia, and the leadership of Ukraine are essentially cut from the same mold.  The levels of corruption are on par with each other, the ineptness is fairly similar, and the back-stabbing is pretty much the same.  The West is choosing one side, but definitely not to the level of actually letting them succeed.

Having been "spoiled" (to pick a term) by Trumpian foreign policy, I'm mystified why any of this is the U.S.'s business at all.  In fact, might it not be the U.S.'s fault, for having broken that 1990s (?) promise to Putin about not expanding NATO?
