Unvaccinated foreigners being allowed in until February 15th only. Actually may only be until February 9th but am not sure now. I only got my 9a visa paperwork mailed to the consulate last Thursday, so I’m almost out of time, unless Phil’s changes something.

I think you are working with out dated information but I am not sure of your situation. What changes for you on the 15th?  I see that some of the new rules for unvaccinated change on the 16th?  Were the old rules easier for unvaccinated than these new ones?  The new ones for unvaccinated are Facility Based Quarantine for 5-6 days then tested, if negative, continue quarantine at "home" til 14 days.

Also, I think that on Feb. 10 the 9A is no longer required for a U.S. citizen.  Double check that.

I am curious who is the one who introduced the idea of an online wedding. Besides that I personally think, its not smart to marry someone without having ever met in person, if I was to review that petition, I would have several red flags going up.

First of all, Nigeria is considered a high fraud country but someone in the US military also has benefits to gain from being married, even when the spouse is not present. This might not matter for the petition, but if I was the beneficiary and my US significant other was pushing me to rush into marriage right that, I'd be very careful.

@pushbrk this is another answer to your question about why a USC would scam a foreigner.

I've heard several stories from US military friends where people marry for benefits (usually its two USCs marrying though).

Our story is unique for sure. I wouldn't recommend marrying someone without meeting them under normal circumstances. The pandemic was the catalyst for me. I hired an investigator to check out my then girlfriend and the report confirmed her story 100%. We log 4 to 8 hours of video chat every day. I am waiting on my 9a as well Jimmyz but yeah, being vaxed, I will fly there as a tourist and immediately file for a residency visa. We'll go to Thailand if necessary and return together which allows me to avail of the Balikbayan visa and stay for 1 year. My wife is really not interested in living in the US. We'll visit alot for sure but we own several businesses and properties in the Philippines. Her family is wonderful and large. They have replaced my family as they are passed on. We'll get her a spousal visa but it isn't a priority as I am happy to stay in her country. The key to a successful online marriage is using the "Trust, but verify" process.

Interesting, the WE part.  Owning businesses and properties in the Philippines with someone you have never met?  Stranger than marrying someone you have never met.

All marriages carry a degree of risk and require trust. Technically, yeah, she owns them but the deeds are all in both her name which is my last name and mine.
I can say that I trust her more than the former spouse who was a US citizen who decided to exit the marriage taking a few hundred K.

Yes, I believe I would have to be in the Philippines prior to February 16th, so by February 15th. I also believe this only applies to Foreign nationals, not Filipino nationals, which I believe can still enter the country after that date. It seemed like after the Philippine government decided to let vaxxed foreigners in on February 10th, they just forgot (or didn’t care about) all of the foreigners in the process of getting a family 9a visa, especially those who weren’t interested in getting vaccinated. The only reason I am going back is just to satisfy this consummation of marriage requirement, otherwise, I had no interest in going back to the Philippines. I don’t mind the quarantine procedures that were in place before. Yes, it could be a hassle, but I just needed to take care of my obligation, to proceed with US immigration.

Yes, things change on the first for Filipinos and on the tenth for fully vaccinated tourists.  Completely different rules for the unvaccinated, but you would have made your plans before the latest announcements on the 28th.

So, are you saying, if I get my 9a visa back with my passport from the SF Consulate this week or next, I still couldn’t travel there by the 15th, being unvaccinated? I started this damn process before the Philippines started changing everything!

I don't know.  The new guidelines address the unvaccinated.  Study them.  Looks to me like RT PCR test and 5 days quarantine.

Read the resolution carefully.

https://doh.gov.ph/sites/default/files/health-update/IATFResolution159.pdf

With a 9A visa, you fall into the changes effective February 1.  See section B.

Effective 01 February 2022, the entry, testing, and
quarantine protocols for international arriving Filipinos and foreign nationals
allowed entry into the country
shall be as follows, regardless of their country of
origin:

The 9a visa makes you part of the part in red.

Then go to B3 for requirements for Unvaccinated.

The change on the 10th is covered in section C and allows foreigners without the 9A from non-visa required countries to come in.  That is a big change.  For a U.S. citizen, this means no 9a from an embassy required and no marriage requirement.

I don't see it in the resolution, but according to the graphic from Cebu Pacific, on the 16th, foreigners from ALL countries will be allowed in.  Of course those from visa required countries with have to have the proper visas and meet the other requirements.

I don't understand why you think you have a deadline of the 15th.  If anything, things get easier for you on the 10th, as you don't need the 9a.

I thought I read before that after February 15th, unvaccinated foreigners are no longer allowed in, on unvaxxed Filipino’s. As of the 10th it says all fully vaccinated foreigners are allowed in country. Which is why I was hoping my 9a spousal visa may get me in with the unvaccinated group. I think if I get there before the 10th would be the easiest way in my situation, except, I may not have my passport or plane ticket by then.

Previously, you were allowed to arrive as spouse because they allowed spouses to get 9a (tourist) visas at embassies.  You were still on a tourist visa.

Effective on the 10th, you or people like you, will not need the 9a from the embassy.  You already applied so you will have it.  I don't think it will make much difference.  It might make a difference on how many days you can stay.

Good luck!  Don't forget to have your quarantine hotel booked ahead of time.
