I married my husband without meeting . I wouldn’t listen to other people . I would do the best thing for you . Not sure ,why it would look bad.?She active duty and that a good reason to do it . It’s also cheaper . I say do it and just be prepared to explain it.  As long as you meet after the fact . Why can immigration say? It’s not their job to be telling people how to marry . They need to be focus on making sure it real . They are looking at my petition now . I keep you posted on the outcome .

Please which country is your husband from and how long did you talk online with your husband before getting married online?

So did you petition when you got to Gambia and has the petition been approved so far? I guess you’ve been in his country for 8 months since you traveled to him after marriage?

I did the petition while I was there . I can’t stay that long . I stayed 2 weeks and I go back for 3 weeks . I will just keep going back . It’s not approved but I got a message from uscis saying they are actively reviewing it after sending a k3 . Tell her do k3 as well when she gets back

Takes lots of pictures  with her and have  ceremony even if small . We had a tribal ceremony with the family . I took pictures , keep hotel and receipts for boarding the plane , hope you got some screenshot of video of chatting before, I had his family write letters saying they know about the marriage since 2020 . have lots of document before , during and after . Let me know if you have any more questions. She doesn’t even have to meet 125 income requirements . She only need 100 . I did proxy . I don’t know about the Utah marriage itself . Good luck

I married my Filipina wife online to be allowed to go to the Philippines on a 9a visa. I fly on February 18th to see her in person for the first time. It is a dream come true. We video chat for hours every day and have done so for a year.

Have you petitioned for her?

I am curious who is the one who introduced the idea of an online wedding. Besides that I personally think, its not smart to marry someone without having ever met in person, if I was to review that petition, I would have several red flags going up.

First of all, Nigeria is considered a high fraud country but someone in the US military also has benefits to gain from being married, even when the spouse is not present. This might not matter for the petition, but if I was the beneficiary and my US significant other was pushing me to rush into marriage right that, I'd be very careful.

No problem with the first time meeting and getting married depending on the time u guys have been together as long as ur marriage is legit and u can  defend it,  it has work for many others and same time what works for others might not work for you.

But about the online marriage before meeting is a no no no for me that won't work just try and meet in person and get married.

You must be fully vaccinated then. I lived with my then gf, for 2yrs in the Phil’s, moved back to the US last Feb., married online in December, now am waiting for my 9a, but am unvaccinated, so I’m getting worried I won’t be able to make it there in time before the cutoff, Feb 15.

It's a nice opinion, but there may never be a chance to "defend it".  There must be sufficient evidence in the file, for USCIS (the easy part) and to convince the Consular Officer to be leaning in favor of visa issue.  The interview is really not an opportunity to defend anything or make your case.  By the time you are face to face in an interview, the Consular Officer has already all but made their decision.  If they are leaning against you, the interview is a great time to trip up the applicant so there's plenty of "evidence" to back up the denial decision.  If they are leaning FOR visa issue, it's still possible for the applicant to screw up and change their mind.  Otherwise, the interview is about confirming they've already made the correct decision.

That said, unless in cases like the Philippines where tourist entries have been stopped for almost two years, marrying first and then applying for a visitor visa you can only get if you have an immediate relative that's a Filipino citizen was the only way to move forward.  (I say was because tourists with US passports and fully vaccinated can visit the Philippines starting February 10.  I expect there are other countries where a similar problem exists.  Not sure if Nigeria is one of them though.
