Form I-94 Record number & land border crossing

On the I-130 online, under "Your Beneficiary / Immigration Information" the questions asks "What is the beneficiary's Form I-94 Arrival-Departure Record number?" - my Canadian husband has gone in and out of the US by land many times and a few by air, but doesn't have a I-94 form. They usually look at our passports and wave us through. 

I see that you can look it up online and find the Record number, but should we leave this blank since he is not filing from in the US, but from Canada? I assume it's for in the US because right after that the questions says "What was the beneficiary's date of arrival?"

You don't  need to assume anything.  Read the heading of section.  If your husband is NOT currently in the USA, the section is not applicable.
