USCIS received our I-485 on September 18, 2006. Since then, we've received 1 RFE, which apparently had to go to the doctor who didn't fill something out on the biometrics form. In any case, we never saw what it was and when I phoned to ask about it, they said they'd received what they needed. It is now July 12, 2007 and it seems like everyone else on here has been approved within the amount of time it's taking my husband to be approved. The last time I called (months ago) they gave me some ####### answer about how there are no processing timelines for this sort of application and to just be patient. We've already had to send off for another EAD and are currently waiting the outcome of that. I'm just so frustrated I want to scream. I want my husband to have his official green card so he can move onto the U.S. citizen applications. Never in my life have I met an organization that is more disorganized and useless. Sorry about the rant. I just needed to get that out to someone who isn't my husband.

Did you send back whatever they needed on the RFE? Or did you assume that the doctor got the notice & he'd take care of it? Maybe they are waiting for a response from you?

I never heard (at least here on VJ) of an RFE going to a dr... usually it comes to you and you have to get whatever is missing (whatever from the doctor) and that you send back.

Whlie there are people who have waiting as long as you, that is hardly helpful to the OP. And most of the people I see who have been stuck in namecheck still offer help to others, instead of "consider yourself lucky" answers.

To the OP - I'd make an info pass. You could be stuck in namecheck, in which case you won't get any answers, but it's always worth a shot.

They didn't send us the RFE. We just checked online and it said one had been sent. So, when I called USCIS, they said they'd already received a response to the RFE and told me that that was it. I couldn't get a person who could actually tell me what the RFE was for and to whom it had been sent, or what had been sent back to them. So I have only been able to rely on what the 4 different representatives told me. Not ideal I know. I'd love to have someone actually be able to talk to me in detail about what happened.

I understand you are upset about your situation. However, I was just trying to look for some answers. Seeing as how you're really not offering any, you really shouldn't have posted here. Your comment was just a distraction. In any case, you are undergoing a k-3 visa, while I am undergoing a K-1 visa. These two visas are different and have different timelines. I was looking at others who have the same type of visa as me and have applied for AOS at a similar time as me. It seemed like they were all being approved as well as those who applied months after me. I wanted to know why they were all being approved and I wasn't. I'm sorry about your situation, but you offered no support, only a slap in the face.

Hi Miranda,

I can surely sympathize. Atlanta is one of the really backlogged processing centers - even now after many AOS applications have been transferred to California. My application was scheduled to be processed in Atlanta as well and I waited 15 months without hearing anything. Then, my file was transferred to California - and I had to wait another 8 months while Califonria processed and granted my AOS. I received no RFEs or anything and when I contacted USCIS regarding the delay - and was able to speak to an actual immigration officer, not just the misinformation line - I was assured it was slow going because of the back-log and they didn't know how long it would take. I had to renew my EAD twice, my AP twice and I had to do biometrics 4 times. I hope you hear something very soon. An infopass appointment may be a good idea. Good luck.

I arrived on a K-1 as well. You may want to look at who applied around the same time as you AND who would be using the same USCIS offices - Atlanta - to get a better idea of the actual time lines involved. Some offices are definitely faster than others.

I don't know how close you live to Atlanta but if it is feasible I would try an Infopass. They might be able to tell you if you are in namechecks or let you know something you don't already know, to at least ease your mind a little about what is happening with your case. I know how you feel as we waited a long time for our approval too while others passed us by, so hang in there! PS love your name ;)

Yes, Miranda, it sounds like it has something to do with the Atlanta office. You should have at least been transferred to California by now. Maybe you should try infopass, as the other Miranda suggested to find out the details of the RFE and what's going on with your case.

And to donnaal, I understand your frustration. But all you had to do was just answer the OP's question. Everyone's case is different. You're stuck in FBI checks, and the OP may not be in the same situation. Good luck to everyone waiting.

From her signature timeline it looks as if she has been transferred to CSC, but I agree about finding out what was going on with that RFE.

Edit: O wait I dunno....were you transferred, Miranda?

Yes, I was transferred to CSC months ago. I'm not sure the exact date I was notified as that is in a filing cabinet that I don't want to go into right now :(. But it was quite quickly after we sent it to Chicago. It seems like I remember it going to Chicago, then to Missouri for some reason and very quickly from there to California. I don't think it ever made it to Atlanta, which confused the slop out of me.
