I have not found anything on the USCIS website that indicates a date when the I-130 case was transferred to one of the 5 processing centers. Any way to find out?

Either call the USCIS hotline or chat with Emma on the USCIS website to ask where the I-130 is being processed.

I know the where, it is Nebraska. It is the when it was transferred I want to know. The reason being the Nebraska center says the normal processing time is 4-7 months. It has been 14 months since filing and 9 months since evidence of relationship was sent. No further action since then. I filed for a "review of case out of normal processing". They replied it is not out of normal times, but if you can't tell when it was transferred, how do you tell?

Efforts to predict when petitions will be approved are pretty futile these days, and processing times do not necessarily begin on any transfer date.  Make an official inquiry if you want.  Maybe you'll get some satisfaction.

  • 4 weeks later...

At long last the I130 has been approved. I even received an email saying there was a change and to check the website. The website states the approval and that the notice (I797) was sent to me by mail, with instructions on what to do next. The website is showing "technical difficulties with limited functionality".

The problem is while my address is in Thailand, I am temporarily in the US having medical treatment at the VA. I won't be there when/if the notice arrives. I say "when/if", because although the USCIS said they sent me the NOA1 by mail last February, it never arrived. Fortunately, I was able to download it from the website. The website at this time does not show any downloadable file. Phone calls to the help line of course only get you to a loop that keeps referring you to the website. The website approval only states to wait 1 month and if I don't receive the notice by mail, to file for a copy.

A second notice this morning says the case has now been sent to the NVC.  I filed a missing mail for the RFE from last February, mentioned the approval and requested a copy be sent to me at my US address. My question then; is there anything in the I797 instructions that is urgent?
