Hey! A few weeks ago we uploaded the civil documents to NVC. We are now waiting for the documents to be approved and then I believe an interview date at the embassy. I'm confused about the timeline here. I know there's a medical examination and that my passport will be held at some point. Can someone give me a step-by-step of this stage of the process? I would greatly appreciate it.

Can I do the medical exam now or must I wait until the interview date is closer? Thank you for your help!

You need to wait till NVC and the embassy schedule the interview

you will receive instructions and a form to take to the dr appointment

then schedule a medical with the list of drs on embassy site (even if u can not get one before the interview as has been happening with many CR1 people)

collect all original documents the notice of interview says to bring

u need the document that is sent from NVC to enter the embassy for the interview

the visa ,  if granted ,  visa expires 6 months from date of the medical exam

Check the US embassy in Norway for more intensive information

First, you need to wait until you are documentarily qualified by the NVC. Assuming you don't have to resubmit any document, this stage takes around 3 months currently. It will be significantly longer if they ask you to resubmit any document. After you are DQ'd by NVC, you wait for your embassy to send you an interview letter. This can take anything from a few weeks to a year, depending on the backlogs your embassy is dealing with. You haven't mentioned your country so there's no way to tell how long it will take to get an interview. Once you get the interview letter, you schedule appointments for medical and biometrics and then appear for the interview.
