Marriage Contract instead of Marriage Certificate - CR1

Hello friends, 

 

 

I just found out after the three months of submission and having my case turned to actively reviewed that I should have submitted a marriage certificate delivered by my government. I already obtained the document and waiting for the translation. Do you think should I submitted as unsolicited evidence or I wait to see if USCIS will issue and RFE? I am getting more and more anxious that these details will impact our approval timelines. I also did not rename the documents that I submitted- but I did submit them under the required sections.

hard call but i would wait for RFE (I think and think maybe not)

if you do submit it make sure u just send copies and keep original 

label those with your case # , both names and both DoB's  as you would have to mail these in 

i may be wrong but i am not aware of a way u can scan and download after the original petition unless USCIS has really updated their system

 

and my lawyer forgot to send it with the CR1 and i was asked for at NVC stage

I would go ahead and submit a copy.  Then, if you receive an RFE, send it again.  Just my 2 cents.

I think if your I-130 is not yet approved, you can still upload documents.

You applied online upload it now doesn't hurt anything. Be sure you have the certificate and translation. You will have to do it again tat USCIS.

Does submitting additional evidence impact the timeline at all? I am in a similar situation.

Yes, it should save you time ( no need for RFE) ..in theory ……and with digital filing maybe nudge USCIS into more flexibility and speed. They actually prefer you wait for RFE…but trying won’t hurt.
